4-Way Lycra
Highly elastic blended fabric (typically polyester/nylon combined with 8-12% polyurethane/spandex) that stretches and recovers in both widthwise and lengthwise directions, supporting unrestricted body movement and meeting a 95% stretch recovery standard.
95% Stretch Recovery
The performance metric measuring how closely a synthetic fabric returns to its original dimensions after being stretched under tension. Below 95% recovery, joggers bag at the knees and track pants sag at the waist; Patel Apparel tests all Lycra blends under tension to guarantee they hit the 95% threshold across 50 wash cycles.
Batch Fidelity
A technical dyeing and finishing process ensuring color shade matching (within Delta E < 1.0 limits), tensile strength, and hand-feel softness remain identical across subsequent production runs.
CEPA Export Sourcing
Trade logistics leveraging the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and other bilateral FTAs. This allows international buyers (such as those in the GCC or EU-fta regions) to source technical activewear from India at reduced or zero import duty tariffs.
Dot Knit (Dry-Fit)
A specialized circular knit fabric with microscopic pinhole patterns on the face. This pattern increases surface area to accelerate evaporation, moisture-wicking performance, and general breathability during intense exercise.
DTF (Direct-to-Film)
A printing process where designs are printed on a transfer film, coated with adhesive powder, and heat cured onto fabric. Works on polyester, poly-cotton, and heavy cotton garments with vivid definition.
DTG (Direct-to-Garment)
Inkjet printing process applying specialized water-based pigments directly onto cotton-rich fabrics, producing photo-quality details. Outstanding choice for multi-color retail custom merchandise.
Dye Migration
A common activewear defect where synthetic dyes bleed into printed graphics during heat curing. Patel Apparel prevents this by using low-bleed polyester barrier inks and strict lower temperature curing profiles.
Dye-House Pantone Calibration
A digital spectrophotometer matching system ensuring color shade fidelity between subsequent production batches. All custom dye lots are matched to a Delta E < 1.0 color variance limit, preventing shade drift on re-orders.
Flatlock Stitching
A flat joining stitch where two pieces of fabric are butt-joined together without overlapping. Since the stitch lies completely flat against the skin, it reduces seam bulk and prevents chafing during physical movement.
French Terry
A high-end knit fabric with loops on the inside and a flat, smooth knit on the outside. Extremely comfortable and water-absorbent, making it a classic option for luxury athleisure sweatshirts and joggers.
GOTS Certification
Global Organic Textile Standard. The leading global processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers, certifying strict environmental criteria and social compliance throughout the entire supply chain.
GRS Certification
Global Recycled Standard. Tracks recycled raw materials from source to final product, verifying ecological and social manufacturing practices, chemical restrictions, and material content ratios.
GSM (Grams per Square Meter)
Metric unit indicating fabric density and weight. Running and training shirts typically utilize lightweight 140-160 GSM fabrics, while hoodies and heavy fleece joggers require 280-320 GSM materials.
Human-Cloud Manufacturing
A modern B2B customer model prioritizing communication and transparency. Clients receive direct WhatsApp coordinator channels, daily digital production floor updates, live capacity matrices, and unhindered access to our manufacturing team.
Interlock Knit
A variation of rib knit where two layers of fabric are knitted together simultaneously. Smooth on both the face and back side, it has excellent shape recovery, draping characteristics, and prevents fabric curling.
Master-Fit
Patel Apparel's proprietary fit profiling system designed to eliminate sizing variance. Standardized and pre-calibrated for Indian, Middle Eastern (GCC), and Western body shapes, this methodology keeps structural tolerances below a strict 1.5% threshold.
MMF (Man-Made Fiber)
Synthetic filaments like polyester, polyamide/nylon, and spandex. Unlike natural fibers, MMF can be engineered with specialized attributes like water repellency, heat management, and antimicrobial channels.
Modular Cluster Sourcing
Patel Apparel's production floor configuration where orders are routed to self-contained manufacturing clusters, each holding a 25,000+ units per month capacity. This allows activewear brands to scale smoothly from an initial 500-unit private label order to a 10,000+ unit OEM run without changing vendors or pattern blocks.
Moisture Wicking
The capillary action of a fabric that draws sweat and moisture away from the skin, routing it to the outer surface of the garment so that it can evaporate quickly, leaving the skin dry and warm.
NS Lycra
A lightweight, woven nylon-spandex stretch fabric that offers exceptional tear strength, wind protection, and water repellency, widely applied to cargo pants, trackpants, and utility windbreakers.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
A worldwide independent testing system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products. Confirms that all parts of the garment, including threads, buttons, and zips, are free from harmful substances.
Overlock Stitching
A stitching method that wraps around raw fabric edges to prevent fraying while allowing stretch. Mostly used for interior seams on activewear that require substantial structural elasticity.
Pattern Drift
A defect where garment dimensions drift over manual cutting layers. Patel Apparel prevents this using digital CAD systems and computer-controlled CNC fabric cutting machines, keeping all cut panels mathematically identical.
Pilling
The formation of tiny balls of fiber (pills) on a fabric's surface from wear and friction. Patel Apparel tests and prevents pilling using ring-spun, combed fibers with long staple lengths to achieve a grade 4.5+ under ISO 12945-2 testing.
Private Label Manufacturing
Full custom manufacturing. Patel Apparel develops garments from scratch based on custom tech-packs, sizing specifications, proprietary fabric compositions, custom colors, and custom trims, starting at 500 MOQ with 7-15 day turnaround.
Retention-First QC
Patel Apparel's in-house testing protocol specifically addressing activewear lifespan. It tests fabric stretch recovery, ISO 12945-2 pilling resistance (targeting a minimum 4.5 grade), color fastness across 50 wash cycles, and double-needle seam stress thresholds.
Single-Roof Production
Patel Apparel's centralized infrastructure model located in Surat, India. Sourcing yarn, circular knitting, customization, pattern making, screen/DTG printing, and automated cutting are housed under one facility to eliminate freight delays.
Spandex / Elastane
A synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. It can stretch to over 500% of its original length and immediately return to its original shape. Used as a blend element in all performance apparel.
Sublimation Printing
A dye technique printing heat-sensitive inks onto paper, which gasify under high heat and bond into polyester fibers. Yields permanent, wash-fast designs that will never peel, crack, or fade.
Tested to AATCC 135/150
A standard testing protocol for fabric (AATCC 135) and garment (AATCC 150) dimensional stability during laundering. Patel Apparel tests every fabric batch to hold dimensional change within a strict ±2% tolerance after 50 wash cycles, ensuring the clothing retains its size and fit.
White Label Service
A catalog manufacturing service. Patel Apparel provides pre-tested blank styles in inventory that can be rapidly customized with client labels, custom neck prints, and branding, starting at a lower 100 MOQ with 2-7 day turnaround.
Zero-Credit Chain
An operations policy where yarn is sourced same-day against advance bookings, securing factory capacity and beginning fabric knitting within 24 hours. This removes debt overhead and accelerates production dispatch to a 7-15 day sprint.
